Project Management

Ensuring Successful Project Management

UMAX Project Management

Project management is key to a successful enterprise software implementation. Inadequate project management has played a major role in failed implementations. A qualified, dedicated project manager is rule number one for a successful ERP implementation.
Poor project governance often stems from an organization’s lack of experience in managing and overseeing ERP or any other software implementation projects.
Ability to keep scope, people and schedules on track can make or break a project. With all these moving parts, it’s crucial that project management stay one step ahead of the game.

UMAX can assume overall responsibility for delivery of your ERP and other software project, providing resources to advise the Steering Committee as well as managing the project implementation.

Project Manager

Our Project Managers utilize Microsoft Business Solutions (SureStep) project management methodology and their own ERP implementation experience to manage risk and deliver successful projects. Our approach has been developed and refined over many implementation projects and is a proven, repeatable process that can be adapted to each client's business model. The success of most software projects is gauged by traditional on-time, on-budget metrics. We believe that a project is not fully successful unless the benefits that were defined in the business case are also realized.

Project Manager Assistant

An UMAX consultant can fill the position of Project Manager Assistant. In this role, the resource will assist the client project manager with the enterprise project management duties. The UMAX Consultant can be on site one to three days per week. Our customers may request this service when they have an internal project manager, but this person cannot devote 100%, and therefore needs an experienced assistant.

Steering Committee Advisor

The UMAX Steering Committee Advisor provides support to the Project Sponsor and guidance and project implementation expertise to the Steering Team. During the execution of the project, the Steering Committee will take many decisions to make relating to potential changes in project scope and/or process designs, resources both internal and external, timelines and budget. The SC Advisor provides expertise, independent guidance and also can act as a foil to the software vendor Project Director, ensuring that all decisions are made in clients’ best interests. The SC Team Advisor also performs a project Quality Assurance role, meeting with the Project Manager on a regular basis to understand current issues and review progress against the plan.
UMAX SC Advisors have a minimum of 20 years of ERP and other software implementation experience.
